Christmas at Home

This year we received Chip, one of Santa's elves, in the mail at the end of November. He relocated nightly and watched the kids to report on their behavior to Santa. The kids told Chip what they wanted for Christmas, too. I'd like to say it made a big difference in their behavior, but not so much. You can see Chip in a red outfit leaning on the candle stick on the mantle.
Our Christmas Eve was blustery! A lot of wind and blowing snow, but we braved going to our church's candlelight service anyway. We made a birthday cake for Jesus, read Christmas stories, talked about the real meaning of Christmas--Jesus' birth, listened to music, and played games.

Morgan was up about 5:15 Christmas morning, ready to open gifts. We made her lay down with us until about 6 when Caleb got up. We had finished sifting through stockings and opening presents by 7am! The sun wasn't even up yet! Aaron and I needed some coffee if we were going to make it until noon, and we decided it was nap time by 10.
Our typical day over the break: up around 6:30am, stay in pajamas all day, eat a lot, nap in the afternoons, play lots of games, bed time around 8pm!
After Christmas was over, we picked through our toys and took quite a few to some kids who don't have many toys. We talked about how we've been given a lot, so we need to give to those who don't have much.
Christmas Traditions we began this year:
1. Birthday cake for Jesus
2. Kids make lunch for mom and dad on the day we open presents
3. Pick out toys to give to less fortunate kids
4. Chip, the elf
