Our first camping trip

We went camping at a small lake (mudhole) about 45 minutes from our house...far enough away to call it camping, but close enough to be home in a reasonable amount of time if necessary. The weather couldn't have been better--upper 70's and calm. Not exactly your typical Kansas in July! The kids did well, but Rio wasn't too happy about being on a leash the whole time. It's easy to forget how much work camping is, but it was worth it.

What's a campout without s'mores? We dined on hot dogs, twizzlers and chips for supper. Aaron cooked a gourmet breakfast of bacon and scrambled eggs on the campstove in the morning.

Time for bed! Not before we tell some stories, though! The kids were thrilled with sleeping on their mats. Mom and Dad got the air matress. Guess we're getting old. Caleb was up bright and early with a, "Hey Dad, I get to go swimming today!"
