Our two hens are laying an average of an egg a day...looks like when our chicks are finally producing, we'll have about 4 eggs a day! We may have to give some away, or our cholesterol will skyrocket!
The chicks have almost all of their feathers now, and will still come to us when we hold our hand out like we have food in it. They're spending more and more time outdoors.
The hens are still a little more skittish around us. I had to chase them out of the tree row yesterday. But at least now they're recognizing the coop as home and will run there instead of under the bush. I've learned that you can't hurry chickens. If you do, they go the opposite way of where you want them to go.
Morgan loves mothering the chicks. If she's outside, chances are you'll find her playing with them--trying to feed them anything and everything she can get her little hands on.
Rio is doing much better around them. We still have to watch him pretty closely, but he's at least able to be outside with us when they're out of the coop.
